The PERRIN shift adapter is easy to install with one of the quickest install times of any 6-speed shifter. The PERRIN Short Shifter Adapter reduces throw by 30%. This should be the first part you put on your car to improve your driving experience instantly feel the difference. Their easy to install shifter adapter makes your shifts feel solid and positive. The shifter height is shorter by almost 2 inches and is also positioned closer to the driver by half an inch, putting the shift knob in a much more comfortable position, all while retaining full functionality of the reverse lockout. The re-engineered lever reduces shift travel by 30%, giving you a shorter and crisper shift experience as you row through the gears. It installs easily, replacing the OEM shift lever on your Subaru WRX with no modifications required to the surrounding console. Thanks for everyone's input, hopefully this post and the comments below help someone else that may be experiencing the same thing.Boomba's short shift lever is built for performance without compromising comfort. This allows for the gears to smoothly align for a much better shift. What I started doing was wait until I either came to a complete stop or only using first if I drop to <5 mph. Previously I was in the habit of shifting into 1st early when I knew I was going to be coming to a stop ahead. Today I made a slight adjustment to my driving technique and everything felt great. For those interested I spoke to the dealership today and they explained it virtually the same way. For anyone interested I'll update what I find out.Įdit2: it looks like u/Zanna-K hit the nail on the head. Although I could brush it off I've decided to take it in after work tomorrow. I guess my question is: has anyone else experienced this? Does the shifter itself have a break in period? Also, yes I do fully engage the clutch before shifting.Įdit: Seems quite a few people have experienced the same thing, or something similar. A couple times I did get the grind and kick out of first but was quick to let off and re engage the clutch (that could have just been the fault of a rusty manual driver though). The feel comes directly from the shifter though not the clutch or transmission. When coming to a stop, or at a stop, simply shifting to 1st feels more difficult then it should, sometimes I notice it on higher gears too. So I recently purchased a new manual WRX (short throw shifter) and the shifter feels off, granted I haven't owned a manual for around 4 years.
